CompTIA has launched two new exams to its A+ certification track: CompTIA 220-901 & 220-902. CompTIA implements new tests in its A+ credential to keep up with technology trends and verify all the skills needed for qualified IT Technical Support Professionals.
The 900 A+ Series is designed for professionals in IT Technical Support and Operations. CompTIA A+ 220-901 Exams and 220-902 Exams must be taken in order to become certified. They will replace the CompTIA A+ 220-801 or CompTIA A+ 220-802 corresponding exams. Candidates can still take the 800 and 900 Series Exams. However, beginning in July 2016, 220-801 exams and 220-802 exams are going to be retired.

These are the passing scores for both new and old exams:

– 220-902 700 (on the scale of 900)
The new CompTIA+ Exams are very similar and 75% of the objectives mirror the old versions. The obsolete technologies have been removed and new ones added. You won’t be required to prove your skills with Rambus, CRTs, Windows XP or Rambus. Instead, you will be asked to show your knowledge in Windows 8, Mac OS Linux, Linux, and Windows Phone.
The main difference between the old and new exams’ compositions is that the 900 Series is more independent than 800 exams. For the 220-802 exam, you were expected to be familiar with all the troubleshooting procedures from 220-801 and 220-802 exams. However, in 220-901 exams and 220-902 exams, the troubleshooting domains of 220-901 exams are not interconnected. You don’t need to study more than one exam curriculum before you start studying for the next.
